How to choose a professional laundry for your hotel

Clean linen needs to be ready when a room is prepared for the next guest. Choosing a laundry is therefore about more than the washing price: it means agreeing on how your hotel will operate every day.

Hotel textile operations

Start with your property's needs

Record the number of rooms, bed types, typical occupancy and textile categories. List bedding, towels, restaurant linen and uniforms separately. Note seasonal fluctuations and days with more guest departures. This information is more useful than a vague laundry estimate and helps you obtain comparable quotes.

Assess quality using your own textiles

Ask whether a trial wash of representative items is possible. After processing, check appearance, smell, finishing and folding, as well as the procedure for stubborn stains or damage. Establish what can reasonably be achieved with the textiles in their current condition and when replacement is needed.

Coordinate collection and delivery

Agree on days, time windows, packaging, handover location and the person responsible for receiving deliveries. Discuss holidays, unexpected volume increases and delays. Plan clean-linen reserves around the actual delivery cycle and your property's usage; one stock level will not suit every hotel.

Ask for clear records and billing

Clarify whether charges are calculated by weight, item or another agreed model, and what is included. Define how outgoing and returned quantities, discrepancies, complaints and write-offs are recorded. If RFID is used, ask what information you receive and how untagged items are handled.

An agreement that can support growth

Before starting, agree on a contact person, the timeframe for reporting issues and how service volumes can change. Keep the agreement in writing. The most useful choice is a partner whose quality, operations and terms fit your business, rather than simply the lowest unit price.
